Toul Thom Phoung Shopping

Popularly known as the Russian Market, Toul Thom Phoung is the best place to go shopping when you are in Phnom Penh.

I am not sure the authenticity of the shoes & sandals but they range from Nike, Addidas, Berkinstocks to crocs.. The clothes on the other hand are from the garment factories that supplies the real brands; Marks & Spencers, Uniqlo, Zara, Mango, Gap, Abercrombie & Fitch, Polo by Ralph Lauren & H&M to name a few.

Prices range from $2 to 25 depending on what item you would like to purchase.
I got my son's PJs 3 for $5 and his pants $5. Real bargain when these items normally retails 70% higher!

I dont haggle much knowing that vendors need profit also but since I speak Khmer good enough for shopping, I would get the best price =) Remember they will not give discount if you are the first customer..

Best Breakfast in Phnom Penh

VP's client took us out this morning to the best place to have breakfast:

Song Saa...

As i am typing this, i am lounging in the day bed of our one over the water one bedroom villa...




We are here to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary...




Saying "i do" to my bestfriend was the best 2 words i ever said in my life..

Its perfect that we are here in the islands of Song Saa... Meaning "lovers"
Ahhhh loving the sun, sea & sweethearts moments together.

Work Essentials...

I know I should be posting updates on the "series" I am trying to do for my blog but right now I don't feel like doing that =)

Anyways, here are my work essentials:

1. Handkerchief - I like the old fashioned feeling of having a handkerchief. I would love to have white ones with my monogrammed initials in it.
2. LV Speedy 30 - A gift from VP. He purchased this when he sold the artwork that I helped him finished!
3. March Jacobs pouch - Gifted by my fab friend Danni.
4. Push Pull Pencil Case - I use this as my make up kit. Since I am wearing very basic make up to work, my small stash can fit here perfectly.
5. Para Mi Bebe - I love the scent of Spanish colognes during the hot, sticky, humid Cambodian summer. I feel refreshed after a few splashes of this cologne.
6. Ipad - my 13 years of celebrating Valentines Day together gift from VP.
7. Push Pull Ipad Case - I love the colorful ikat! Hand woven & 100% organic cotton made in Cambodia.
8. Ferragamo Sunnies - $3.50 find at U Care
9. BB Case - Another $3.50 find at Blush
10.Gucci Wallet - the year was 2008 & right before the economic crisis affected the art sales in Cambodia, VP gave me this as a Christmas gift. The wallet then was a symbol of hope for me that soon the art sales will go up again.. well, I have faith that 2012 will be the start of that year!

Oh I forgot to take photo of my basic black Nokia Phone. At work we call it our "S.O.P. phone" as most of us has it. It deserves another post though why I like Nokia phones. Hehehe

I used my BB to take the photo. My BB's purpose is actually for my roaming number. It's my mini FB & Twitter gadget when VP & Son are busy playing temple run in the Ipad. We think that Ipad is the best baby sitter! These days, we all have so many gadgets that convenience is right there on our fingertips. Remember our life before the mobile phone or internet?  I sometimes wonder if I was working in the 80s, what would be my work essentials? =)

Phnom Penh

Promptly after I had uploaded my last entry, we head out to the Virak Bunthan Night Bus parking area. The location is quite convenient as it is located in front of this night market. Note that there are several night markets in town and this is the particular night market where across it's foot bridge the night buses are parked to collect passengers:

Its a sleeper bus with toilet but I did not dare use the toilet =) I would suggest bringing your own travel pillow and blanket for comfort. I honestly did not sleep well during the entire bus ride. IT WAS SCARY. I admire my husband for being so brave in taking the bus twice a week. Anyways, as for what to wear, I suggest light sweater & leggings or pants for the ladies and please do not wear shorts or skirts.If you are like me that needs some entertainment for the 6 hours drive, bring your Ipad, new Ipad, Iphone, Isomething something etc etc. Here's VP playing Plants & Zombies:

6 hrs later we arrived in Phnom Penh & I was too groggy to take any pictures. After freshening up in the hotel, we head out to St.240.. on the way we saw a street vendor selling these snacks & we just have to try it!

After checking the progress of Artillery, we had proper breakfast at The Shop. Breakfast here spells vacation for me.I like long breakfasts when I am on holiday. We were just happy to lounge and talk just about anything under the sun.
