If someone will stumble upon this blog, that person (you) will be or will not be (I don't know) wondering why I like "youtubing".. like most people (or not) you have that moment that it's just fun typing random titles in youtube and enjoy the video or hate watch it.". I mostly like movie trailers and tv episodes promos, old tv shows episodes, old movies, honest trailers and hate watching cinematic moments like Russell Crowe in Les Miserables (and that thought deserves a different blog post!)
Here are the shows we (VP & Moi) just watched until the season ended, series ended or it got cancelled:
1. Once upon a time - almost 2 years ago, I accidentally "discovered" this show while looking for a fairy tale video to let my 5 YO son watch instead of him watching Tom and Jerry. Eventually FR told us that he thinks Tom and Jerry is not fun anymore (No, we did not ban FR from watching the show. In fact it kept him entertained since he was 1.5 YO.. I'll elaborate this not-accepted-by-the-parenting-skills-police in another post if ever I remember to do so...) and he prefers Phineas and Ferb but well, VP and I are still hooked in watching the show. Season 2 just ended and loved that they might be going to Neverland!
2. The Following - While we like police/investigation/procedural dramas like C.S.I. (like the reruns in AXN), we like to watch TV shows that sometimes requires brains.. like The Following. Using the dark poetry of Edgar Allan Poe is brilliant. It just make teaching English literature difficult explaining that really E.A.P was not a cult leader (until proven otherwise by History Channel).
3. 1600 Penn - Growing up in the 90's means that you had watched "Independence Day" and felt that cinematic moment of Bill Pullman's speech as U.S. President... it was the decade of using "speeches" as the catalyst of the plot's denouement.. While my nose bleeds with what I just wrote about dramatic structure (yes, here's the wiki link), we had fun watching a show that was somehow inspired by that speech Bill Pullman gave in Independence Day. Yes, Skip (Josh Gad) made reference to The Goonies and performed Cindy Lauper's classic "Time after Time" (for me though this is so Romy and Michelle). This show unfortunately got cancelled but happy to know that Josh Gad will be Woz in the upcoming Jobs biopic.
4. The New Normal - The first time I saw Andrew Rannells was not in Girls. I do not watch Girls. It was that fateful night in the Tony's, when the legen (wait for it) dary N.P. H. hosted and The Book of Mormons won tons of awards. He performed "I Believe". Fast forward September last year, we learned that he left Broadway to be in this TV show. We thought that he was so perfect as Brian in The New Normal". He was like the perfect BFF. Unfortunately the show was cancelled and HBO Girls will be on Season 3.
5. SNL -its because of Stefon and The Californians :)
6. Friends - We will always be Team Angelina and in our little TV world Rachel Green is different from Jennifer Aniston. I can't remember a moment outside Friends that I actually like J.A. even with that movie with Paul Rudd & Kevin Bacon; Picture Perfect. Just like Karen and Jack who thought that Central Perk & Joey, Monica, Chandler, Ross, Phoebe and Rachel are actually real, We felt sad when the show finally ended after 10 seasons.But hey it ended good and it did not slipped into oblivion like Heroes. Friends is like our TV show version of comfort food. If we don't know what to watch we'll just watch an episode or an entire season on DVD.
7. Smash - We like Broadway and its great to see a fictional show having labor pains before its debuts.. but there was just something wrong in the first season and the show did not take off. There were good episodes and music in season 2 but we were like, are they making Smash like a musical soap opera? I love Jeremy Jordan as a performer but I just hate his character in Smash. Its fun to watch Tom and Julia but I still miss Will & Grace.
How we get to see the latest episodes of these shows while living here in Siem Reap? I'm not telling :)
